On average, it takes between 4-8 weeks to complete a new website. This is of course dependent on scale.
This is where I get to know you and your company. In our first meeting we discuss your target audience, competitors, the information architecture of your website, and I gather any design inspiration or elements you may want incorporated into your shiny new website. I will send this document to you before our meeting to look through and begin to fill out if you want.
Here I will create the sitemap (and possibly wireframes) for your new website for your formal approval. I will also create a content document outlining all of these pages where you will let me know what information (content) will go into each. Once I have the content, I can move forward with the initial homepage design. A second meeting will then be scheduled to go over this design to make sure we are on the right track. Upon approval, internal page designs are created for your review.
Now that the design has been approved, we will need access to your purchased domain name. We can also set up your hosting and security (end-to-end encryption) if you do not already have this. Then it’s on to the set up of your staging site. We build on the WordPress platform and ensure there is no interruption to your online services if you already have a website. After the build, an internal quality assurance (QA) process is carried out – double-checking all links, tablet/mobile responsiveness, and content review. A third meeting is then scheduled to give you user access to conduct your own QA before moving into the launch phase.
After any necessary revisions, the client approves the build and gives approval to launch the new site. This includes image compressions, site caching setup, basic SEO setup, and connection to site metric tools (like Google Analytics). After launch QA is also carried out – including checking site speed.
